    Webster defines a sanctuary as a "place of refuge" and our course, with its many natural areas, is just that. The Sanctuary provides a relaxing and peaceful "back to nature" golf experience.

    The Sanctuary Golf Club opened its new course for play in July 2002. The course was designed by local golf course architect Brian Huntley. The Sanctuary course now includes 18 new Bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways, plus 5 entirely new holes and many new and rebuilt bunkers.     The Sanctuary course features 5 sets of tees on each hole. The multiple tee design provides a fair and interesting challenge for golfers of all types. The yardage ranges from 6,811 (Gold Tees) to 4,921 (Green Tees).

Clearview Golf Course's layout with gently rolling terrain and undulating greens serves as a challenge to experienced golfers, yet also provides an enjoyable round for those players who are new to the game.  Course architect and owner William "Bill" Powell began construction of Clearview Golf Course in 1946. The first nine holes was opened for business two years later. The second nine was added in 1978. With the help of his wife, Marcella who passed away in June of 1996, and their children Renee and Larry, Clearview has gained notoriety for being the first and thus far, only golf course designed, built, owned and operated by an African-American. Mr. Powell continues to be recognized worldwide for his achievement of sustaining and maintaining the course for more than 50 years. In March of 1998 he was elected to Honorary Membership in the Northern Ohio Section of the PGA.

"Legacy Through Leadership – 60 Years of the LPGA" is a two-day event that will recognize both legacies and raise funds for the Clearview Legacy Foundation, a 501(c) (3) charitable foundation. The LPGA Pro-Am reception and dinner on June 13 will welcome keynote speaker Shirley Spork, one of five of the 13 founding members of the LPGA still living, who will talk about the beginning of the LPGA. Other LPGA players will offer insights into the growth, global impact and legacy of that sports organization, including Betsy King, former Solheim Cup captain and World Golf Hall of Fame member. "This will be a one-of-a-kind program. No one else will have the honor of having any of our founding members at a function like this anywhere," said Powell. "These women were pioneers, much like my father was a pioneer. The LPGA is the only major professional sports organization where people can actually meet some of the founders." The June 13 reception and dinner, co-chaired by Katie Smucker and Hortense Bobbitt, will be at Kent Stark Center, 6000 Frank Ave., North Canton. A 5 p.m. reception will open the festivities; dinner is at 6 p.m. Sponsored tables for 10 are $1,000; individual dinner tickets are $65.

Started as the Bunker Hill farm prior to 1927. This name was given by the early settler, Eden Hamilton in memory of the historical Bunker Hill, near which the Hamilton famliy live in the East.  Her grandson Walter Kennedy, who fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill acquired the farm land.

The Bunker Hill Golf Course was purchased in 1940 by Berneta and Roger Ingraham.  Now in its 3rd generation.

The golf course is in it's best condition ever.  Golfers are pleasantly surprized by this jewel that is gaining its deserved reputation as one of the best known secrets in Medina County.  From it's fast greens, running at an average 9 on the stimpmeter, to its aesthetics that rival any country club, there is no wonder that Bunker Hill has been voted Best of The Best for 6 years running.  This vote is by the public readers poll of the Gazette.
